Instrument Science and Technology

The discipline of instrument science and technology of University of Shanghai for Science and Technology has experienced more than 60 years of development and has a deep professional and technical foundation. The early development of the discipline originated from the mechanical manufacturing measuring instrument and self-instrument majors established in 1960 when it was subordinate to the First Ministry of Machinery Industry of the People's Republic of China. Among them, the measuring instrument major was renamed as precision instrument major in 1983, and in 1985, it was awarded the right to grant a master's degree in test and measurement technology and instrumentation, and in 2005 it was awarded a doctoral degree in the second-level discipline of test and measurement technology and instrument (it was adjusted and merged into the first-level discipline doctoral program of control science and engineering in 2017), and it was listed as a key discipline of the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission in 2008. In 2019, the measurement and control technology and instruments corresponding to undergraduate majors entered the national first-class undergraduate major construction point of the "Double Ten Thousand Plan".

Representative achievements of the discipline include: the development of digital laser automatic tracking sight, high-precision optical indexing head, etc. for China's aerospace and national defense engineering, which won the second prize of National Science and Technology Progress Award; For the production service of machinery industry, research position tolerance and detection research, specify standards, won the second prize of national scientific and technological progress; The research and engineering development of high-performance spectroscopic instruments and high-precision key components won the first prize of Shanghai Science and Technology Progress Award; The key technology and application of wave surface detection of nanosurface and optical transmission system won the first prize of scientific and technological progress of China Metrology and Testing Society; The ultra-high-precision planar absolute detection technology with anti-disturbance function (QHL) won the first prize of the China Industry-University-Research Cooperation Innovation and Promotion Award of the China Association for the Promotion of Science and Technology Industry.

In recent years, in order to actively adapt to the new round of scientific and technological revolution and industrial transformation, serve the major national strategies and needs, dock the construction of "Shanghai Science and Technology Innovation Center", and focus on the construction of biomedical photoelectric detection, terahertz technology and instruments, multimedia information security technology, and particle material detection technology. It has been approved as the Key Laboratory of Medical Optical Instruments and Equipment of the Ministry of Education, the National Engineering Research Center for Industrial Process Automation, the National Engineering Technology Research Center for Semiconductor Lighting Application Systems, the National Optical Instrument Quality Supervision and Inspection Center, and the Engineering Research Center of Optical Instruments and Systems of the Ministry of Education. In the past five years, he has undertaken more than 20 national projects such as the National Major Instrument Project, the Key Project of the Natural Science Foundation Major Research Program, the General Project, and the Major Research Program of the Ministry of Science and Technology, and has published more than 300 high-level papers, including more than 20 highly cited papers.

The discipline has always attached importance to the professional construction of the master's degree and emphasized the cultivation of master's talents, and has trained more than 3,000 students over the years, including "Huang Qifan" (1974-1977, automation instrumentation major, Department of Instrumentation, Shanghai Institute of Mechanical Engineering), deputy director of the Navigation Institute of the Microsatellite Innovation Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (1996-2003, bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, master of precision instruments and mechanics), University of Shanghai for Science and Technology, etc. In recent years, vigorously promote ideological and political education, new engineering education, innovation and entrepreneurship education and interdisciplinary talent training, and the quality of talent training has continued to improve.

The discipline has a high influence at home and abroad, and the results of the nanomicron precision measurement traceability project cooperated with the German Federal Institute of Physics and Technology (PTB) have been authorized by China, Europe and the United States, and the project cooperation with Tsinghua University, Taiwan Tsinghua University and Huazhong University of Science and Technology has been carried out to participate in the Japanese KAGURA gravitational detection project.
