Academician Andrius Baltu? ka of the Vienna University of Technology was appointed as an honorary professor on February 21, and gave an academic report to the whole school and carried out exchanges and discussions. Professor Andrius Baltu? ka is well known in the field of high intensity laser technology and high field physics. Since 2006 she has been a Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology at the Technical University of Vienna and in 2016 she was elected a member of the Austrian Academy of Sciences.

On the afternoon of February 21, 2023, the ceremony of awarding Academician Andrius Baltu? ka an Honorary Professor was held in Conference Room 201, Siyan Hall, University of Shanghai for Science and Technology. President Ding Xiaodong delivered a welcome speech and presented an honorary professorship certificate to Academician Andrius Baltu-ka. Deputy Party Secretary and Vice President Sheng Chun presided over the awarding ceremony. Liu Bin, Director of the Party (school) Office of our University, Zhu Jianmin, Director of the Personnel Department, Liu Baolin, President of the Research Institute of Science and Technology Development, Cui Guomin, president of the Graduate School, Xu Lin, deputy director of the International Exchange Office, Liu Yi, deputy dean of the School of Optoelectronics Information and Computer Engineering, and representatives of the young backbone teachers of the School of Optoelectronics attended the ceremony.

After the Honorary professorship ceremony, Academician Andrius Baltu? ka was invited to attend the "Seminar on Academic Presentation and Cooperation and Exchange of the Austrian Academy of Sciences" organized by the Institute of Optoelectronics. Invited guests to attend the academic report and exchange seminar include Academician Zhuang Songlin, Director of the University Academic Committee and President of the Institute of Optoelectronics, Lei Fengyun Science and Technology Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Austria and science and Technology diplomats of the Embassy (online participation), Professor Liu Baolin, President of the Institute of Science and Technology Development, Xu Lin, Deputy Director of the International Exchange Office, more than 120 students and teachers of the university. The presentation and seminar were moderated by Professor Yi Liu. Speaking on behalf of the School, Academician Chong Songlin warmly welcomed Academician Andrius Baltu? ka to visit the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology and congratulated him on becoming an honorary professor of the University. Counselor Lei Fengyun spoke highly of the long-term practical cooperation between Academician Andrius Baltuka and the research team of the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology, and looked forward to building a more solid platform for further cooperation between the School of Optoelectronics and the Institute of Photonics of the Vienna University of Technology. And play a more active and powerful role in promoting the innovative development of the Belt and Road Initiative and serving the construction of a community with a shared future for mankind. Academician Andrius Baltu? ka had an impromptu and friendly interaction with Counselor Lei Fengyun. Afterwards, Professor Liu Baolin and Professor Liu Yi respectively introduced the overall scientific research situation of the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology and the scientific research disciplines of the School of Optoelectronics to the guests.

Finally, Academician Andrius Baltu? ka made an academic report entitled "High-Energy High-Peak-Power Mid-Infrared Frequency Conversion and Applications". He started with the development of intense laser technology, focusing on the development of high energy far-infrared laser technology and the new physical phenomena and laws driven by it, especially the latest research progress in extreme nonlinear optics, air laser, atmospheric remote sensing, and high-energy terahertz radiation generation. After the presentation, Academician Andrius Baltu? ka had a warm exchange and discussion with the teachers and students present. The teachers and students present asked Andrius? Baltuka for advice on the latest progress and basic problems in the field of ultra-fast lasers, and Academician Andrius? Baltuka explained in detail. This academic exchange not only broadened the academic horizon of the teachers and students, but also helped to enhance the understanding and integration between the scientific research teams of the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology and Vienna University of Technology, laying a good foundation for the future cooperation and win-win development of the two sides. Style.

Academician Andrius Baltu? ka is an international leader in the field of high intensity laser technology and high field physics. She has been committed to the development of ultra-fast laser and optical parametric amplification technology for a long time. Her team's research has strongly promoted the cutting-edge applications of ultra-short pulse precision control in ultrafast spectroscopy and high energy physics. So far, he has published more than 200 papers in Nature, Science, PRL and other top academic journals, and was invited to compile a book. According to Google Scholar academic statistics, the H-factor is 64, with a total of more than 21,000 citations. His team's work in high-power mid-infrared ultrafast lasers, high-brightness X-ray pulses, and extreme high-field physics has led to innovative applications such as semiconductor nanodetection, atmospheric precision spectral detection, biomedical diagnostics, and new drug synthesis.

At the beginning of the New Year, we started our work. After the resumption of international cooperation and exchanges after the epidemic, the visit and appointment of Academician Andrius Baltu? ka strongly promoted the rapid recovery of international research cooperation at our university. The in-depth cooperation with the team of Academician Andrius Baltuka will significantly promote international research cooperation in the field of intense laser technology, accelerate the construction of optical engineering disciplines, and provide new momentum for the construction of a high-level university.
