Introduction of the Disciplines

More than 30 postgraduates are enrolled in the master's program of computer science and technology of Shanghai University of Technology every year. Computer Science and Technology are ranked 65 in the third round of discipline evaluation by the Chinese Ministry of Education, and it is ranked C+ in the fourth round of discipline evaluation, and is ranked 1% in the global ESI discipline ranking. There are 5 professors, 4 doctoral supervisors (enrolled in system science, management science and engineering, control theory and control engineering), and 15 associate professors. There are 37 part-time instructors. There are many faculty members serving in academic organizations at home and abroad, including IEEE members, ACM members, senior members of the Chinese Computer Society, members of professional committees of the Chinese Computer Society, reviewers of state-level projects and provincial and ministerial research projects, reviewers of well-known academic journals at home and abroad, and program members of important academic conferences. The Department has research directions that are important to the development of the discipline and national strategic needs, including: parallel computing architecture and cloud computing, artificial intelligence and applications, network computing and Internet of Things technology, edge computing technology, wireless sensor networks, big data analysis and machine learning, software engineering methods and technologies, and intelligent processing and content recommendation.

In recent years, the disciplines have won many provincial and ministerial awards such as Shanghai Technical Invention Award, Science and Technology Progress Award of the Machinery Industry Council, Shanghai Science and Technology Progress Award, etc. Dozens of projects have been awarded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, Ministry of Education's Doctoral Fund, National Key Development Program, Shanghai Key Science and Technology Project, Shanghai Education Commission Project, etc. The department has also established industry-academia-research cooperation with many famous enterprises in China, involving many industries such as pipeline network, telecommunication, petroleum, intelligent transportation, network video monitoring, big data analysis, industrial control and Internet of Things, including cooperation with National Pipeline Group, Aerospace Orient Red Satellite Co. Ltd., Tongji University, the Institute of Computing Technology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and other enterprises signed a horizontal project funding of more than 20 million yuan.

The department has the Shanghai Education Commission Engineering Center "Shanghai Smart Home Large Scale IOT Common Technology Engineering Center", and also has network computing lab, IOT technology lab, computer network lab, big data processing lab, parallel computing and architecture lab, with a laboratory area of 1500 square meters.

Most of the graduates are working in national IT technology field, and the graduates are distributed to IT technology companies and information service industry in Shanghai and Yangtze River Delta, and many of them are employed by famous domestic and foreign companies such as Baidu, Jingdong, Huawei, Zhaoxin, Nvidia, INTEL, Tencent, DJI, etc., and have received good reputation. The student source of boththis disciplines is mainly from domestic established undergraduate higher education institutions, as well as more than 10 foreign students from Bangladesh, Turkmenistan, Romania, Uzbekistan, Kenya, etc., which has a certain international influence.
